Format of Play:

Format Overview:

The ladder format consists of 4 teams, each comprising 2 men and 2 women. During each session, players engage in 3 matches, totaling 6 games per player. These include 3 gender doubles games and 3 mixed doubles games.

Session Structure:

Each team match has 2 rounds, with each round consisting of 2 games played simultaneously on 2 courts. Round 1 features Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles, while Round 2 consists of Mixed Doubles - A and Mixed Doubles - B. Each game is 15 minutes long, with a 15-point differential mercy rule applied.

Scoring and Tie-Breakers:

The match winner is determined by the total game wins. In the event of a tie, the first tie-breaker is the total points scored across all games. The second tie-breaker is the point differential, calculated as the sum of points scored in all games minus the sum of points lost. The team with the highest point differential is declared the winner.

Match Progression:

After completing both rounds, the two match winners will play against each other, as will the two non-winners. Subsequently, teams that have not yet played each other will compete in a match. This format will follow a weekly ladder consisting of one session per week.

Overall Winner Determination:

At the end of the ladder, the team with the most wins will be declared the winner. Tie-breaking rules are the same as those used after each match.

Team Selection:

Team selection will be based on a draft process. Players will be chosen by designated 'Lead Selectors' based on their performance and skills.

  • *If you cancel your registration prior to 48 hours before the event, you will be given a credit on your APC account. There will be no refunds. Please be sure that you are available for all 4 weeks of this event before registering as finding a replacement is an impact on the volunteers and the remaining players in the event.

Requirements for Participation

Must have 1) DUPR account and 2) joined the Annapolis Pickleball Club on DUPR no less than 48 hours prior to the first event. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of registration. DUPR is free. When creating a DUPR account please use the exact name and email you used to register for the APC website.

If you are unable to attend an event it is your responsibility to find a substitute within the same skill level. The ladder coordinator will attempt to assist you in finding a replacement with proper notification. Failure to do so will result in removal from the ladder, no refund and not permitted to register for the next iteration of APC competitive events. Failure to find a substitute places additional burdens on the volunteers who work very hard to coordinate and run these ladders. Please be respectful.
